Kris Bingham - Sep 24, 2009
Hi,
I would like to sincerely thank all those involved in the organisation, operational duties and the Croydon Airport Model Club members who made for an absolutely outstanding day out that my family and I enjoyed last Saturday at the Southern Model Air Show.
I pre-booked the tickets on Thursday and received an excellent service from staff who processed my ticket request and subsequently called me back with a booking reference number.
Parking on the day was effortless and well organised, as was entrance to the complex thanks to helpful and friendly staff.
The air show was nothing short of spectacular, so much so that I would have returned on Sunday without hesitation had I not made other plans. The impressive skills that we admired by the modellers and real life pilots were simply outstanding.
I attended the first ever show of it's kind at the Hop Farm following it's demise at other venues and have to say how very much improved this years event was in comparison.
A truly memorable day which was without doubt the best day out I have had so far this year.
Thanks once again to all.
Kris Bingham

What can I say! What a fantastic weekend down at Hopfarm, definitely one to do again.
Looking at the runway strip, I consider it ok to land my microlight on! Would love to fly down some time, and/or as you say next year is definitely an option (hopefully we wont bring so much camping stuff with us next time lol)
Kind Regards,
Tommy.
James Marr - Sep 21, 2009

I feel this is the UK's best model show. Why do I think that?
- Everyone (visitors, trade, flyers, family members dragged along) has a smile on their face and seems to be really enjoying it
- The flying displays are excellent and there is ample viewing space
- There's a really superb range of retailers and enough space to get at them
- There's plenty of variety (model cars, model boats, full-size kit cars etc, plus the Hop Farm's many attractions for the kids at no extra cost)
- The weather always seems to smile on this show!
(Editor: Thanks Gary, Glad you enjoyed it!)
Elliot Glenister - Sep 20, 2009

My first model airshow, and it was FANTASTIC !!!
Flying displays all day, and incredible skill shown by the pilots, a great swap meet where I got some bargains, Excellent trade stands, (yet more bargains!). The buggy displays were FUNNY!! A great layout with plenty of room to move around. It was the best day out I've had all year. Can't wait till next year, no I REALLY can't wait!
Hugh - Oct 05, 2008

ALAN WHITMARSH - Oct 04, 2008
This was the first time I attended the Air show and I must say that I enjoyed it from the start to finish. The weather was fantastic and the flying was very professional. It was nice to see my local model shop (TJD Models Dartford) flying. They have been very helpful to me in the past when I first started flying Helicopters.
This will be a definite date for 2009.
Dave E - Oct 04, 2008

Thanks for fantastic day, well done to all of you and see you next year !
PETER ROYALL (CAMFC) - Oct 01, 2008
Thanks for all your kind comments for the efforts we take to make the Show fun for you all. We really do try to please you all!
The comment about the B and B is noted, but unfortunately not everyone can resist the temptation to take things without paying. We are looking after your stuff, after all. We are compelled to place things out of reach as a consequence. A similar approach has to be taken at every other Show we visit.
Looking forwards to seeing you all again, Heads up!
OILY.
Dave.S - Sep 26, 2008
Went on Sat, what a fantastic day great flying loved watching the reds. This was our first visit and will not be the last. Well worth the journey from Suffolk.
Well done to all
Dave
Paul - Sep 25, 2008
Great show, keep up the good work.
Only thought, whilst not a gripe, is bring and buy was a great plan, but would be so much better if you look around the items, or certainly get closer to them, as by the time somebody's attention was received, you see the item you wanted being bought by somebody else.
Also it didn't give you chance to see exactly what was on the tables, all the small stuff. (Comments Noted, Always difficult to balance viewing with responsibility for other peoples items, I will put your note to the committee, Editor)
Anyway, well done!
Simon Millgate - Sep 25, 2008
Guys and gals you all excelled yourselves as usual, flying was fantastic! especially the Jets!and what about that B17 wow!!! The new layout was excellent, it was great being able to look round the trade stands rather than being pushed round,it also left more room along the flight line.
The only Gripe i have is why do you have to go through the gift shop to get out! Last year they opened the big gates at the side of it!! could have knocked some of the things over in the shop with my lengths of Balsa getting out!!
keep up the good show/work, cant wait for next year!!!!
Paul & Benj - Sep 24, 2008
This was our second visit to the show and I have to say it was well worth it!.
Great organisation by the team and Weather again made it memorable.
Trade area was great, with so much variety. If only I'd won the lottery
Just one little quibble (cos these comments help to make a better show). Can the flight line fence not be reduced in height. If you're sitting (which most people are), you can not see much of the action happening at ground level. (The fence is of a standard size an design required by 'those that must be obeyed', sorry - comments noted though - Editor)
Highlight for us also was the limbo by the REDS!!. Totally cranky!.
Nigel Hall - Sep 23, 2008
It is a privilege to be part of this show. All year my son looks forward to flying at the Hop Farm and he is never disappointed.
This year he even won a raffle prize! Some people have all the luck.
Congratulations to the organizers;they deserve our thanks.
The Pells - Sep 23, 2008
Brilliant weekend. Liked the new layout. Something for everyone and good weather too! Have been to every model show at the Hop Farm and it just gets bigger and better.Camped this year and hope to do the same next year.
Brian Rice - Sep 23, 2008
Best ever,
I was not able to attend on Sat.....I am still crying!
Paul M - Sep 23, 2008
What a show to end the season. Superb, So many different types of aeroplane and all well displayed together in their slots. No break in the flying slots and a full program with a lunch break too.
Well done to all those who put it together you obviously have worked so hard to maintain the title of South's Premier Model Air Show.
I met so many people there that I had not seen for a whole year but it seemed as if we just carried on our chats from where we left off last September. Now that is a friendly show.
Again next year please.
David Daniels - Sep 23, 2008
Great day out on Sunday, the weather was very kind.
The new layout works a treat, it seemed much less crowded this year both on the flightline and amongst the trade stalls.
Enjoy
The Price Family - Sep 23, 2008
WHAT A FANTASTIC WEEKEND!!! Congratulations to all those who organised the best show ever. We've been to every show since it started at The Hop Farm and must say this years was the very best. Loved the new layout, actually had room to walk around the trade stands rather than being bumped here there and everywhere. Great to have room on the flightline also to enjoy watching the flying, again, without being pushed and shoved. Camped for the second year which was excellent, look forward to the power being up and running next year.
Again, a hearty well done to all those who organised it!!!
Gareth Devey - Sep 23, 2008

A great weekend again . Thanks to all of the members of CAMFC who gave their time and effort to make it a fun and entertaining weekend .
Bigger and better each year .The Reds Demolition Derby (was it meant to be ?) / last plane flying was fantastic . (See reply from Cyano Sy of the Reds, Editor)
the layout was better with plenty of room to move about .
Many thanks from the Medway MFC.
Pete Barrett - Sep 23, 2008
HI all,
just like to say thanks to all the staff and pilots for putting on a great show and to all the traders for being friendly and helpful.
I really enjoyed my day and look forward to next year.
happy flying
Pete
Grant - Sep 23, 2008
Can something be done to speed up the queue to get in ?
(I think the shear numbers overwhelmed the till's, this is an item on the agenda for our next meeting, Editor)
I was well over half an hour in the queue which is a bit much after a long journey to get there.
Many in the queue were local families with young children going for reasons other than the model show.
Perhaps separate entrances for model show and non model show visitors ?
Great show, just the getting in and out again through the shop were the problems.
Inner State - Sep 23, 2008
First time I've been, 550 mile round trip and well worth it. Absolutely brilliant, superb site, well laid out, excellent facilities.
Change Request: Please, please, please don't make people exit via the rip off shop (gift shop). Nightmare for parents and people with large boxes. (Noted, will speak to the Hop Farm Management, Editor)
Keep up the good work, this could (and should) get bigger than the nationals.
Cyano Sy ATS Fun Fighters (aka The Reds) - Sep 22, 2008
Hey Im glad you enjoyed it but not half as much as we enjoyed doing it!!. Had the fly cam on for that one so keep an eye out on you tube. Thanks to every one for a great if not the best weekend. The organisation was spot on. Well done!!
Chris - Sep 22, 2008
Thank you for a fantastic show experience, well done all of you who put in the hard work to make it happen.
I thought the new layout worked well, nice to have enough circulation space on the public side of the flightline without having the argy bargy of squeezing through the trade stands. Bring and Buy worked perfectly, very well organised and a fantastic idea.
Shame there were no RC monster trucks for the kids to drive like last year and Ali Machinchy was missed but the Reds were worthy winners of the Best in Show award. Well done you nutters!!
Lewis - Sep 22, 2008
We all had a Great Day. loved the jets and the turbulent's. I think the highlight for me was the Red team fighters doing the firework limbo on sunday - there mad !
