Thank you for visiting southernmodelairshow.com and with the show only a week away, I thought it would be good to let you have an update with all the latest news.

The show this year is just bigger all round

The number of traders is up, the number of campers is up and the number of pre-booked tickets is up.

In addition to the usual Saturday night entertainment, we've arranged to keep open at least one of the food stalls and the beer tent on Friday night for later camper/trader arrivals.

A first for this year is a full size helicopter display from Denis Kenyon will be in addition to Paul Fellows in his Extra.

We have over 100 pilots booked in and Jim has done a great job organising the slots, with a full and varied programme for everyone.

TJD Models are running a pyro slot on Saturday and our usual pyro WWII airfield attack with the Redruth/ATS guys will be on Sunday.

We are amassing a nice collection of raffle prizes including a complete electric trainer setup, the actual one featured in this months review in Radio Control Model World. We have at least two other complete aircraft setups, one heli setup and numerous magazine subscriptions, books & dvd's.
We must thank Avicraft, TJD Models, CenturyUK, Traplet and ADH publishing for their assistance.

I must admit, I'm thinking of buying some tickets myself. How often do you see a complete heli setup including a Futaba 2.4ghz radio set as a raffle prize!

The Cygnets Model Boat club will once again be filling the 25,000 gallon boat pool and putting on a great display. The Dover Bashers RC Car club will be back for their second year and we hope to be able to get one of the full size tanks into their arena so they have something even bigger to jump over this time.

Those big RC tanks will be back roaming the venue and I'm reliably informed that the Dalek invasion this year will be bigger too.

The Hop Farm itself has some new exhibits and a fantastic looking climbing frame for the kiddies. Last year we had a few classic cars and a few kit cars, I understand that this year we'll have considerably more.

Mark Tilbury will be running some indoor flying in the marquee along with some sizeable Century UK and Graupner stands.

Enquiries from traders are still coming thick and fast, but to date these are the ones I know about: The Traders Page

and finally don't forget Wiz from www.rcmf.co.uk will have his RCMF Pilots Pitstop and guest speakers on hand all weekend and usefully for all those that frequent the excellent RCMF forum, the pit stop will be very close to the food vans and beer tent.

Please keep an eye on the site for any last minute updates and we hope to see you at the show. I'll be the one wandering around the flightline loaded down with cameras, come and say hello

Darren..
